The ancient Aeonians have endured the passing of eras. Witnesses of history’s untold marvels, they have proven to be paramount survivors. As Lucifer’s light is the bane of their immortal kind, they serve Him as the Theocracy’s soldiers that police the flock in the eternal darkness outside the highborn society’s walls. And as the absolute authority outside the walls of civilization, their never ending thirst is unquestionably indulged... except only when the Enlightened object!

The Aeonians
The Church

The Church of Lucifer, as the head of the Theocracy’s dominion, is the guardian of knowledge and keeper of the Faith. Only the clerics of the Lightbringer hold the secrets which keep the greenhouse scrapers functioning. So being the sole provider of nutrition and labor for the masses, the Church's rule is undisputed throughout the cities of Nod.
The Inquisition
Called Lucifer’s Chosen --the Enlightened-- the knights of the Inquisition are the Theocracy’s muscle, one with authority even over the Church. Open only to those of the noblest descend and highest of skill, the Inquisition’s mere mention strikes fear even in the hearts of those in the clergy’s higher echelons. Blessed by the Lightbringer Himself, they command the powers of the Morning Star's Holy Light, making them uparalleled warriors, feared by mortals and Aeonians alike!
Adelia
As the daughter of cardinal Amram, young Adelia comes from a long line of nobility. It was her cousin Lady Salome, the daughter of the Theocracy’s High Priest, who informed Knight Kish of Adelia’s suspicious activities. She was discovered practicing occult rituals in the company of Epictetus, a highly respected Aeonian Lord and her close friends. However, her insignificant part in the heresy, her social status and her willingness to collaborate led Knight Kish to let her go and keep her secret discreetly protected.
Antipas
Continuing the long legacy of his family line, Antipater joined the clergy with a clear goal set before him-- to become the next High Priest of the Theocracy. He achieved his goal sooner than anticipated when his father Herod passed away, succumbing to a sinister curse placed upon him by his sister Salome. Two years after the Avatar was considered dead, Antipater’s father clearly disobeyed the Avatar’s command by ordering a forbidden massacre of the populace. Herod’s son, Lord Inquisitor Archelaus, supported his father’s disobedience as no fear of retribution was present. Thus at the Avatar’s return Antipater strove to clear his name and distance himself from both his father’s and older brother’s agenda. He swore allegiance to the returned Avatar and while Herod and Archelaus were sentenced to death, he was anointed as the new High Priest.
Antonius
Antonius is a young hut-builder who, along with his sister Sylia, lives in Jerusalem’s outer city. His craft earns them a meager living in the poverty stricken area outside the wall.
Aurelius
After Knight Kish rooted out the heretic infestation of Sodom’s leadership, Lord Aurelius took the reins of Pentapolis’ capital. A devout Aeonian, Aurelius firmed the Theocracy’s grip in Sodom once again. By elevating the brigand leader Barabbas as the direct master of the human populace he easily took control of the warring gangs and dealt with the anarchy that followed the previous Aeonian Lord Justinus’ removal. Yet his unquestioned support of the Theocracy’s order proved too costly for him, after refusing to exempt even the daughter of his enforcer Barabbas from the cruel “Massacre” order.
Balthazar
The Master of Entropy and the senior of the Triarchy, Balthazar silently observes the rest of the world from his tower in Zoara’s Necropolis. None dare approach for the whispers of his occult activities keep even the Aeonians away from this outlaw who openly defies the Light Bringer Himself!
Barabbas
The Brigand King of Sodom, Barabbas has been a loyal subject to the Aeonian rule. And his loyalty has been amply rewarded with the rule of Pentapolis’ capital. However, his obedience like that of his son Berakhiah, ended the day Herod’s order was executed, and with it Barabbas’ baby daughter.
Berakhiah
A renowned fencer, Prince Berakhiah of Sodom is a loyal follower and son of Barabbas. Even in his teens he was by his father’s side when they overthrew the Aeonian Rule. With Maryam’s burning light and the aid of the mysterious 3 Magi they annihilated the Aeonian council and captured Lord Aurelius, thus avenging the death of Berakhiah’s baby sister and liberating Sodom form the Theocracy’s bonds.
Bolverk
One of Jerusalem’s outer city Aeonian guards, Bolverk is the symbol of oppression to the eyes of the people. An immortal being who takes every chance presented to abuse his position’s power, he is both greatly feared and hated. This trait being all too common in all the Theocracy’s Aeonians is not enough to distinguish Bolverk especially in the common people’s nightmares.
Caiaphas
The Lucifer’s Avatar, Lord Caiaphas is the absolute ruler in His Theocracy. From the Avatar’s Watchtower within Jerusalem’s inner city, his vigilant gaze is constant even beyond the walls. There has never been a different Avatar of the Light throughout the Theocracy’s history and his position is unquestioned and granted. And so is the Bright Archangel’s favor of Caiaphas. Likewise his powers are godly… they say centuries in the past he annihilated an entire rogue Aeonian settlement summoning His Light upon the eternal night.
Caspar
In the eyes of Pentapolis Lord Caspar is the most familiar of the Three. An eccentric and stinking rich man, he travels the arenas of Pentapolis looking for the sickest show that can be conceived. Many dream to work in his lavish estate in Zoara’s Necropolis, no matter the gruesome rumors. Yet all who do so dread his vile habits and his Hellfire wrath!
David
David was one of the countless urchins roaming the streets of Jerusalem’s outer city. The circumstances of his birth were prophetic for his life of violence. David was conceived when his mother Sylia was raped by a warrior who had travelled to Jerusalem to compete in the fabled Celebration of Hope. His mother wouldn’t have survived the incident if it hadn’t been for the timely intervention of Godfried, one of the patrolling Aeonian guards. He was raised by his uncle Antonius alone for he lost his mother during High Priest Herod’s Massacre Order. According to that order all girls below the age of two were to be executed. Yet when the legitimate victims ran out, some Aeonians chose not to end the bloodhunt. David’s mother sacrificed her life to allow Antonius to flee with her son to safety. The product of Jerusalem’s uncontrolled violence, it was no shock when young David was naturally lured to the same event his father aspired to compete in. He shocked Jerusalem not only as the youngest competitor to ever fight in the arena but also as the youngest to ever survive and win the event.
Dorian
Many a heart has wept for the favor of handsome Dorian. A servant of Caspar, one of Pentapolis’ most feared men, Dorian has spent most of his life in Caspar’s mansion in Zoara. All of sane mind dread the wicked lord and the rumors of his abysmal tastes and unnatural activities, but in the despair of poverty all dream to work in his mansion. It is one of the benefits of Caspar’s immense wealth that has kept Dorian content with his existence, Caspar’s extensive library. And Dorian has made good use of this rare treasure, passing most of his free time dwelling in strange imaginary places, seeking thus escape from his unbearable situation.
Dorian was purchased at a young age from one of Sodom’s gladiatorial pits, where Caspar saved the boy from being devoured alive by hungry dogs. It is argued however which fate would have been kinder had the terrifying wizard refrained from this rare display of mercy. In Caspar’s servitude he has grown up with Isis and Jonathan and in these daunting circumstances the three have become as close as siblings.
Godfried
No mortal resident of Jerusalem’s outer city knows the age of the aeonian guard Godfried. They all recognize him as the ever young guardian who quite oddly refuses to abuse his status. Still prone to the curse of his eternal kind, he is rightfully feared when the Thirst takes over his just demeanor.
Gunnar
The brother of Simon, Gunnar is a bright symbol of Hope in the whole Theocracy. In a bloody display of prowess he vanquished every antagonist in the arena and emerged as the sole victor and survivor. Before the envious eyes of the common people he was invited by the Inquisition to the unknown life of nobility…
High Priest Antipater
Like his father Antipas, Antipater is the High Priest of Lucifer’s Theocracy. He is the Pope of the Church and along with the Lord Inquisitor and the Aeonian King, one of the three Potentates that rule the Theocracy under the Avatar’s venerated watch.
High Priest Herod

When High Priest Antipater passed away, his oldest son Herod stepped in as the next ruler of the Church. A stern and well-founded leader, Herod’s connections have established him so firmly enough for him to often dare to be at odds even with the Avatar himself.
Isis
The baby of Lord Inquisitor John and Maryam turned out to be a lot more than the fruit of their affection and the realization of Maryam’s wildest dreams. From the moment of her birth she astonished those present by magically healing her operated mother, thus placing her father against an impossible dilemma-- duty against love.
Jonathan
Jonathan is famous among the gladiatorial pits of Pentapolis, as the champion of Lord Caspar. He never fails to live up to his master’s insurmountable expectations, a fact that while has kept him breathing, it plunges him to face against even worst odds each time he enters the arenas. While victorious, had it not been for his childhood friend Isis’ formidable healing gift of healing, he would have succumbed to his wounds many times over.
Justinus
As the Aeonian lord of Sodom, Justinus was the most powerful man in the whole of Pentapolis. Ever since time forgotten, when Lucifer punished His clergy in the five cities of Pentapolis by stripping them of His benevolent light and granting it to the common people instead, the Church had removed its presence from Pentapolis. Their Aeonians were left behind to keep the Theocracy’s rule and Justinus had proved to be a most faithful hound of the Light Bringer. In turn his prosperity was endless, matched only by his infamous greed.
It was Master Kish in his early years he who he exposed the Aeonian Lord as a heretic and a Disciple of Ahriman. With the alias of Berengarius, Justinus had spread the Heresy of the Exile throughout the ranks of Pentapolis’ Aeonian rulers. Following a trail of leads, Knight Kish reached the den of Heresy and single handedly dispatched the heretic lord’s guard and apprehended the traitor. It is argued however whether Justinus was lucky or not when Knight Kish was forced to execute him instead of effectively delivering him to the Inquisition’s interrogating hands…
King Annas

Of the three seats in the Potentates Council, one belongs to the ancient Annas-- King of the Aeonians. His rulership over his eternal kind supersedes even the Theocracy’s existence, as they say he is of the oldest beings to have walked the earth. Even if the Aeonians are the foot soldiers of the Theocracy, King Annas is an equal Potentate to the High Priest and the Lord Inquisitor, their authority only overshadowed by the Avatar’s reign.
Lilith
The succubus that steals the life of newborn babies and sleeping men, Lilith is a superstitious folk tale personifying the evil spirit. The wicked Lamia is known as the sultry mother whose children have been slain and seeks revenge from those who harmed them. Some believe in her existence, some consider her just a symbol for the famine and poverty that plagues those not of noble blood.
Lord Inquisitor John

Lord Inquisitor John is the head of the Inquisition and one of the Theocracy’s three potentates who rule under the divine authority of the Avatar. An exemplary knight from a young age and one of the youngest to ever pass the Master Trials, his talent, coupled with the High Priest's support and with his marriage to the High Priest's youngest daughter, paved the way to the highest rank.
Maryam
Once Lord Inquisitor John’s concubine, Maryam shocked the entire society of Jerusalem when she became the Lord Inquisitor’s second wife. When Lady Sonya, the High Priest’s youngest daughter passed away, Lord John refused to follow custom and married his first concubine instead of Lady Salome, the sister of his deceased wife. The reasons behind this decision have given food for endless speculation and gossiping, however the former concubine has been living a fairy tale ever since.
Master Kish
Master Kish is one of the Inquisition’s prominent figures, whose opinion in Jerusalem’s Forum has turned tides and shaken the foundations of command. The son of Abiel, he comes from an old noble family line which opened the doors for his unparalleled skill to shine within the inquisition’s ranks. From a young age he proved his value and mettle, qualities that placed him in the pivotal post of serving on numerous diplomatic envoys as the personal guard of the High Priest’s daughter Salome. It was through the latter service that as a young knight he gained Lady Salome’s trust, a valuable benefit that led him to his first triumph-- discovering the brooding Heresy of Ahriman. Honorable and lethal, he is considered to be the quintessential Inquisitor, a symbol of the Enlightened’s supremacy.
Melchior
The False Prophet is the most mysterious figure of the Triarchy. Melchior’s wild eyes only hint the nightmarish visions that endlessly unveil before him. Seldom speaking, when his voice is heard it is to command reality to shape to his False Divinations!
Namira
Along with her brother Lilius, Namira was Lady Salome’s marriage present to her sister Sonya when she wedded Master John. She has been in the Lord Inquisitor’s homestead for many years and after Maryam’s marriage and social elevation, Namira stepped in to take over Maryam’s former duties.
Pontius
Were it not for Pontius’ unique features, Knight Kish may not have recognized the heresy’s grip of Sodom’s leadership. He was first encountered in Jerusalem by Knight Kish in his investigation for the enigmatic “Berengarius”. Pontius denied any knowledge, however he was next recognized by Kish in the throne hall of Justinus. His immediate voyage to Sodom from Jerusalem alerted Knight Kish of Pontius’ urgency to inform Sodom’s cult of Ahriman of the Inquisition’s sudden interest. And that was Pontius’ last mistake…
Princess Theodora
As the daughter of the Aeonian King Annas, Theodora is one of the most powerful ancients and persons of authority within the entire Theocracy. Like her agenda, so her origin remains shrouded in mystery, known only to the most scholarly of the aeonians. Like her father she is among the eldest of Jerusalem's and the Theocracy's aeonian lords. She was vital in Knight Kish's hunt for Ahriman's cultists, as she offered him the next lead to his dead-end search for the mysterious "Berengarius".
Salome

The daughter of High Priest Antipater, Lady Salome is at the top echelons of Jerusalem’s society. Her ambition is matched only by that of her older brother Herod-- the Theocracy’s new High Priest. She is a respected, feared and not to be provoked aristocrat.
Saul
![]()
Sir Saul is the son of the renowned Master Kish. He inherited all the fine qualities of his father, making him the perfect knight. Yet the unbearable legacy his father placed upon him has proven to be the young man’s curse. Anxious to prove himself in his order’s eyes, he has surpassed all expectations for his level, but found solitude in excellence.
Simon
A fierce warrior hailing from Zeboim of Pentapolis, Simon traveled to Jerusalem to compete in the fabled Celebration of Hope tournament. Though prepared to face even his own brother in the arena, luck deemed otherwise for the siblings, as Simon was executed a few days before the event by the aeonian guard Godfried.
Sylia
The younger sister of Antonius, she helps her brother in his craft, as they struggle together to lead a life of decency. Their wits are their sole weapon in a world where the Rule of Strength defines one’s place.
The Wandering Jew
Throughout the Cities of Nod an old fable is whispered. It is believed that a baby’s birth attracts the arrival of an enigmatic eremite known as The Wandering Jew. His occult medallion gifts are rumored to protect the newborns, yet the meaning of their strange carvings remains shrouded in mystery…
